Super curious about this. Really liked Sacred 2, but, something about this just seemed to keep me at a distance, but the art style kept drawing me back in.

Popping enemies up into the air seems cool but was hoping for a more diverse playing style between warrior than mage rather than pretty much the same moves but with different art.

Think I'll stick with Sacred 1 & 2 where they are Diablo clones, with Sacred 2 it's insanely long so great rpg to dive into & listen to podcasts with it. And the original studio that made those games is closed for many years so not sure how much of that studio's influence/people went into this.

This has got a really nice look to it. It's the ilomilo developers and I'd probably buy that first but I'll grab this on PC in a sale at some point if it's online co-op.

I prefer it when dodge is mapped to L2 and left stick rather than the right stick. I want my right thumb on the buttons.

"Golden Axe with loot".... you mean Castle Crashers? Cause this game looks remarkably similar (technically) to Castle Crashers. I'd accept "Golden Axe meets Castle Crashers." I don't understand how CC isn't the FIRST game that pops into your head when you walk over a weapon and see that little stat screen. Honestly we should all just go play Castle Crashers.

It's just endearing at this point. Game puts a giant banner on the screen "R for dodge roll", mine cart comes along, "we should jump." I like the art a lot, but I wish the loot had a little more sizzle to it; Brad missed an axe earlier because it kind of blends in with the background.

@ratsor: I agree to an extent. I think the Golden Axe comparison came from the fact that it is three player co-op and that there are specific classes, which is a bit different than Castle Crashers.

A little disappointing that they went all the way through this QL without acknowledging the connection to the other Sacred games. I've always found them to be fairly solid games.

Brad's comment about "loot" is interesting. The fact that just because there are numbers that increase makes him want to play a game he is otherwise uninterested in... seems like an interesting psychological study for a game designer.

Based entirely on what Brad is saying, Day One Paid DLC which basically adds Act 5, which shows up on the map even if you don't own it, and adds a chapter to beat the actual boss in the game, sounds like someone read "101 Ways To Make Your Day One Paid DLC Seem Even Shadier" and took it to heart.

They should have just charged $19.99 and been done with it. I can't support this business model, it's not even about money, it's about perception that you are not getting everything you're paying for.

Every game designer already knows about this. Read up on Skinner Box and compulsion loops.

This game looks very pretty and the boss fight looked pretty fun but the rest of the level leading up to it seemed pretty boring.

I'm interested in the game now but I'll probably wait for a sale because I feel like there is a good chance I would get bored of it pretty quick.

Once I realised it was tied with actual 'Sacred' my interest went up, but damn the animation completely kills it for me. The enemies barely fought back in that level, it looked rough. Can't say I'm big on the art style either.

Once Brad said Golden Axe with loot I was all excited, but how far did I have to fall :(

Golden Axe with loot sounds good. It's a shame how enemies more or less just stand there when you're hitting them, that's no fun.

Why do I like this art style more in screenshots than in motion? It's usually the other way around.

Also this game looks kind of boring. My personal way to gauge this stuff is whether or not the game looks worse than the arcade Dungeons and Dragons beat-em-ups. This looks worse.

I'll probably get that Vanillaware one when it drops though. Dragon's Whatever.

This has been studied before, with all of those facebook games and how they're designed to be addictive beyond anything else.
