@pandaloons It was a tough decision for me to make not to re-sub last year when the site broke down and didn't get fixed. It still doesn't work for me (the free videos at least, anyway). The best advise I can give is; just shift over to paying for YouTube Premium to stop using work arounds and getting hit by frustrations.

@multi-platypus I cancelled mine too (and started back in 2011). The GB website was always the first on my bookmarks. I thought GB would have to shut down to stop me subscribing. The website still being broken for me since the Fandom switch in April, meant there was little reason to keep the sub up.

Everything is posted to YouTube now and the player there works. Not having all the archive content there does sting a little... but I can't watch that on the website video player anyway :D.

@zombiepie and @dtoast have been pushing this as much as they can. You can always try posting the issue to the Site-Tech-Issues Discord channel.

It sucks a little, but it's just where GB is pivoting too now to keep going. I ended up getting YouTube Premium instead. It's pretty cool. all the videos sync across and if you lock your phone, it only uses audio data.

I just tried the free videos on the site, logged in, using Chrome on PC and Firefox on Linux.

Both browsers give an unresponsive video player.

I have not tried turning on or off cookies (and probably won't) though.

@tiltz: I messaged support and asked them to refund my sub (it only renewed a couple of weeks ago though). They did refund me, although I am no longer a Premium Member. It might be worth doing something similar.

It's tough. I subscribed in 2011 but as you said, the site doesn't work anymore. I now subscribe to YouTube Premium instead.

@dwmc: I don't think this is a feature that is coming back with the transition over to the new player.

I found this response from Rorie in a previous thread about the video player:

"I don't have an ETA on the continuing where left off feature, unfortunately. Lots of stuff going on but might take some time to restore it, if it's possible.".

Might be with tagging @dtoast for an up date on that.

The player is not working after the update and behaving exactly in the broken way it has been.

Tested chrome on PC and Android.

I have tried Chrome, Brave, Firefox (no adblocker extensions used) and separate PCs. Firefox on Steam Deck.

I also tested on Android Chrome (no adblocker extensions used) on my home network and mobile data (to see if it was my network).

All browsers and machines give the exact same problem of a video player that does not work (Black screen and greyed out Play button, click is not registered) after trying to click on it.
