I bet it's way too much of a headache to figure out what constitutes an "older" game and to let the wiki determine that automatically. I think high user-points would make more sense. You lose the "this person has invested lots of time and gets to choose a pic" aspect but I feel that is pretty much useless anyway.
@def: Yeah, I think higher overall user-points would be a better idea, although we might need to agree on a threshold. Maybe we could still keep the 'rewarding investment' system, but reduce it down for users who already have high wiki points overall.
please post after taking care of a request so I can potentially keep posting new posts that show up as activity (edits don't). the red steel request was silently processed right away, for example.
I have 1000+ wiki points, and I still am having some problems. When trying to add an main header image for the Frey character entry I couldn't find the edit tags option or anything like that. Am I just missing something?
@naoiko: You have 1914 wiki points total, you have 66 wiki points on the Frey page. You need 1000 wiki points ON THE PAGE YOU WANT TO CHANGE THE IMAGE FOR. Only 934 more points to go on the Frey page, sorry. :)
This for Gears 4. Though if that ends up looking a little funky then maybe this instead?
Also, considering how long it can take for requests to be seen to, I really hope they'll get rid of this stupid limitation and just let anyone choose a page's BG image. I mean, you can freely customise a page's default image regardless of points, so... it's nonsense that the BG image has such a restriction behind it.
I've gone ahead and added some "style guide" rules to the OP, but I'm open to feedback (or additional rules). After a few thousand of these, I'm clearly starting to become a little obsessive with how they should look.

Alright, I tried looking through the entire image set, but all the other gameplay images I found were even smaller (that one at least was 2x pixels).
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories has very few screenshots that doesn't include the logo, and the few that doesn't are pretty low res. I dug up these three I'd like to suggest as headers though, not entirely sure which would fit the best. All of them are low res, but at least don't feature any characters that would be half out of frame and generally represent the setting of the game:
@chaser324: I will bookmark that thread for the future. However, the Telly I was requesting an image header for wasn't the same as the already existing entry. There are two different 'Telly' characters in the chibi-robo universe.
@naoiko: I don't understand what you're saying about this Telly character. I set the default image on the page you linked to. You'd know better than me about there being another character with the same name in those games.
