@brad: The Popeye movie was directed by Robert Altman, and has a lot of his trademarks in it. It is totally fucking bizarre, and absolutely worth watching.

e: Oop you just noticed that. But seriously watch it, there are so many parts with strange Altman crosstalking, it's somewhat amazing it was ever made, let alone released.

I can't believe something so bare bones is twenty bucks. It looks fun, but certainly not for that price.

That game is basically baseball windjammers. There needs to be more games like that.

Maybe with music and graphics that didn't look like a Facebook flash game it could be something.

You know, I'm with Alexis, I'm done with RBI's music after the first few repeats. Compared to other soundtracks at the time even, I don't think it holds up at all. Still though, the music is an essential part of what makes RBI Baseball so this game is still a disappointment in most respects.

this seems like a solid, somewhat barebones, attempt at an old school baseball game. Not too bad and i'd probably pick it up over a serious baseball simulation but i have no interest in any sports games right now

I also didn't watch The Goonies until I was older, and thought it was pretty bad. Surprised it's such a big deal to people.

Speaking of not seeing 80s movies until way later and not getting why they were so beloved, I didn't see The Princess Bride until like 1998 or so in high school and I just didn't get why people thought it was so great. I thought it was "ok" at best.

i've never played rbi baseball, but i have played a lot of Super Batter Up, which sounds similar, except for the part where it doesn't have memorable music.

Kinda sad that they apparently clicked the Megabyte Punch link, and immediately dismissed it as "just a platformer", when it's actually one of those "new wave of couch competitive games", like Towerfall, Samurai Gun and Nidhogg, though I think it came out a few months before any of those (edit: apparently more than a year before Towerfall).

EDIT: Also, some moderator should link the Unprofessional Fridays episode that video was from and link it to the Lethal League page, which doesn't currently have any videos linked to it.

I know next to nothing about baseball but this game looks like heated refuse.

Shame this sucks, I played a lot of RBI Baseball growing up and in college.

High Heat Baseball 2001 was the last serious baseball game I played. I spent four months playing all 162 games plus the playoffs only to lose in game 7 of the World Series. I vowed never to play a "real" baseball game again.

I have been watching videos for a long time on this site and this is one of the few times I know that Jeff has a soul, because I could here it being crushed the longer this Quick Look went on.

With the poor graphics/sound and tedious gameplay, I half-expected an ump to stick his hand out to the side and say "NO BALL."

Man that was depressing, i dont care for Baseball or their games but this just looks like complete trash. Would of been cool if it was a super stylized game with 2d sprites

Nobody noticed the original RBI Baseball music being played over the MLB logo intro.

As usual the negativity in these comments has gone overboard. Really, this is trash? Okay. I mean I get it's not the prettiest game and the music isn't from 1987, but trash? It plays just like RBI.

Jeff says he doesn't like something, and the sheep always go overboard in following him off the side of the mountain.

yeah the graphic style doesn't match up with the animations (lack of).

It's weird to go for a realistic visual design, color palette, model proportions and then match that up with gameplay that is trying to be fun and simple, not realistic and not a simulation.

still nice to see a decent arcade style sports game come out in the $10-$20 range these days.

This is close to my thoughts, although I don't think it has anything to do with Jeff. But then again I could be wrong, and you could be totally right. But yeah, this game looks fine.

It kinda looks ok but that price is lame.

Watching this I feel like it has a lot of the stuff Jeff always asks for in a sports game. Simple pick up and play controls, quick games, and logical menus. I think the presentation is awful and the lack of stuff is kind of shocking considering the price. This game would have to be a lot better to warrant $20 with this amount of content. I dunno. I honestly think I would enjoy playing it a lot more than Sony's game. If next year they can improve the graphics and audio and add some additional modes and options then I think it would be pretty great.

This looks functional but hella boring. Nice to see Alexis in a QL though.
